Organise! 29th June

We have got lots to fight over with a major assault on public services, benefits, pay and pensions anounced as part of last week's budget and now over 700 job losses at Addenbrookes over the next three years anounced on Friday as well as several local schools rushing to start the process of becoming new Academies. Not to mention the first total privitisation of a district hospital on the cards at Hinchingbrooke.

However there has also been resistance locally and nationally. Last Monday campus unions called a day of action accross University and FE colleges and there was a wave of demonstrations and protests on Tuesday against the budget (including in Cambridge). A good meeting against free schools and acadamies took place in Cambridge on Wednesday and a strike against increased hours and cuts at Long Road Sixth Form happened on Thursday.
