Campaigns to save local libraries off to good start
Meetings were held this week to stop the potential closure of both Milton Road and Arbury Libraries in Cambridge. Over 40 people attended a meeting to defend Milton Road Library and fifty people met on Saturday to stop the closure of Arbury Library (see photo). The County Council are trying to make out that local libraries are not used enough. However both libraries are popular and offer a range of community activities and access to resources way beyond the borrowing of books.People have shown they are prepared to fight to keep them open.
The threat comes as part of a wider attack on all of the county library services - please download the petition from this site. Questions will be asked at the full council meeting at Shire Hall on Tuesday 20th July and a lobby will be held at 10am outside the meeting (bring placards and banners).
