It is vital that we keep up the pressure on the Council, otherwise basically we will lose all subsidised bus servives.
What will this mean? Well, it will mean that thousands will be isolated in their own villages, unable to visit family or friends, or go shopping.
It will also mean that many hospital and other important appointments will be lost, costing a large amount of money in itself.
It will put a stop to socialising, it will put the vulnerable and the elderly at risk, no way of travelling is bad for morale and will mean that people will have to give up work, including the disabled that are part of the 'care in the community' scheme.

These Councillors are our elected representatives, they are here to represent us! What next to go? Police numbers, ambulance numbers, fire engines? These are already in danger and we have in fact lost fire engines already.
'We will not cut vital services'
Really? Public transport is just that! An emergency services to many thousands of people.
Please join us in voicing your disdain at the bureaucratic insanity that is happening, and remind the Council that real-time bus timetables are redundant if there are no real-time bus services.

'No forthcoming service'
What next? School bus services? Well they are on the rack too.

The cuts haven't stopped. there are at least another 3 years to go in the destruction of our Public Services. Over £100 million worth. Let's remind the council that these cuts aren't necessary, there is an alternative.

If your child is attending IVC, you should already have heard by now that the college is proposing to convert to Academy status. There will be a meeting with parents at IVC on Tuesday, 21st June, 7pm in the Sports Centre Conference room. Today is the day that we cast our vote of no-confidence in this Con-Dem coalition that truly is condeming our workers, our students, our disabled, our children. We are expected to pay for the bankers' crisis, for the mismanagement of our own money. We are expected to pay in jobs, in education and in essential services. Our NHS is in despair, if they get their way it will be outsourced... sold to the highest bidder. Our services ...have been slashed, bus cuts, job losses, huge inflation. So let's show this 'government' how we REALLY feel. Together we are strong, as events across Europe and The Middle East have shown. They are NOT in absolute power, our voices WILL be heard, our OUTRAGE will be publicised and generalised.

The PCS , UCU , ATL and NUT unions have all balloted for strike action and action short of a strike... join us in unity against this condem 'government'!

Our NHS is under attack more than ever. Andrew Lansley's so-called  'listening exercise' has finished and guess what... he wasn't listening  then and he certainly isn't listening now (but we know he hears!) At the  very least 50,000 jobs will be lost in the proposed backdoor  'outsourcing' privatisation of Our NHS, as services are sold to the  highest bidder, effectively ending free (tax paid) treatment. 
So will we get our money back? No.
Can this be stopped? Yes.

ATOS Office Picket ... Action Against ATOS

ATOS is a private European company hired by this Government to cut the Welfare Benefits by 20%. Most of these cuts have been aimed at the chronically sick and disabled. 40% of people seen by ATOS have had their benefits cut and had to go to appeal. 70% of these decisions were overturned on appeal. That means that ATOS are making mistakes and denying benefits to the sick and disabled. Some people do not have the wherewithal or the strength to fight these decisions and are left destitute and starving. We ask you to come down and support the chronically ill and disabled by highlighting this company's greed, and lack of humanity towards the most vulnerable in our society. This situation will only get worse as the government are cutting legal aid. This means that those taken off of benefit, by mistakes made by ATOS, will not be able to appeal against these decisions. HELP STOP THE ROT NOW.

This is an ongoing campaign, ATOS will be picketed once a week

The next action will be on Friday June the 10th 4-6 pm.

UCU members at ARU, CRC and Cambridge University have taken a second successful day of action. A rally at Gt St Mary's Church attracted solidarity from many other unions and students. Lecturers are striking to defend pensions and to stop devastating cuts to FE and HE education. NUT members at Long Road Sixth Form also held a solidarity protest.

Hundreds of workers and service users marched through the streets of Cambridge today to start a week of protests against the Cambridgeshire Country Council and Cambridge City Council budget cuts. Both Council have meeting this week at which they are expected to make deep cuts in public services. The Cambridgeshire Against the Cuts demonstration was calling for councillors to reject the spending cuts and set a needs based budget.

Tuesday 15th February, from 8am, Shire Hall (next to Castle Mound) Cambridge Defend Education and Cambridgeshire against the Cuts are lobbying the Cambs Council meeting which is planning to implement devastating public service cuts. We will be demonstrating outside the meeting as Cambridge residents present petitions to the Council inside the meeting. Come and show your support- we are beginning at 8am in order to have a presence there as the Councillors are showing up to work.
